According to Daegu Catholic University Hospital on the 23rd, A, who attends the Shincheonji Church, underwent surgery here on the 18th to transplant a liver to her mother.
After the surgery, A was moved to a general ward, but when her body temperature did not go down, the hospital conducted a COVID-19 test. The test results confirmed A was positive, and she was isolated in a negative pressure room.
Afterward, A revealed to the hospital that she was a Shincheonji Church member and said, "I was notified by the public health center to be subject to self-quarantine."
A’s mother, who received the liver transplant, is isolated in a single room awaiting test results but reportedly shows no abnormal symptoms.
The hospital placed 38 medical staff and employees, including doctors involved in the surgery, under self-quarantine. Additionally, the liver transplant ward where A was hospitalized was temporarily closed and disinfected.
Meanwhile, at Daegu Catholic University Hospital, besides A, a nurse who is also a Shincheonji Church member recently tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the temporary closure of the emergency room and the ward where she worked, and the quarantine of patients and medical staff who had contact with her.
