[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] On the 23rd, President Moon Jae-in exchanged congratulatory letters with King Abdullah of Malaysia to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Malaysia.


South Korea established diplomatic relations with Malaysia on February 23, 1960.


The Blue House stated in a press release that "the two leaders evaluated that bilateral relations have made remarkable progress over the past 60 years, and recently, the scope of cooperation has expanded beyond economic collaboration to include security, infrastructure, and advanced industries," adding, "they agreed to closely cooperate going forward to build a community of peace and prosperity as mature partners."


It also reported that "President Moon, who made a state visit to Malaysia in March last year at the invitation of King Abdullah, expressed his anticipation for King Abdullah's visit to Korea in the near future."


Meanwhile, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and Prime Minister Mahathir, as well as Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and Foreign Minister Saifuddin, also exchanged congratulatory letters to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
