[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The number of new confirmed cases in Hubei Province, China, where the damage from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is most severe, has remained below 1,000 for four consecutive days.
According to China Central Television on the 23rd, Hubei Province, the area most severely affected in China, announced that there were 630 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 96 new deaths on the 22nd alone.
The number of new confirmed cases in Hubei Province peaked at 1,693 on the 18th, then recorded 349 on the 19th, 775 on the 20th, 366 on the 21st, and 630 on the 22nd.
However, nationwide in China, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is approaching 77,000, and deaths have reached about 2,400, indicating a serious situation. In particular, among the confirmed cases in Hubei Province, 8,583 are in critical condition, and 1,845 are in a grave state.
Earlier, the National Health Commission, which announces nationwide statistics, reported that as of the 22nd, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide was 76,288, with 2,345 deaths.
