Incheon Also Breached by COVID-19... Confirmed Case Reported in Bupyeong

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] A COVID-19 confirmed case has been reported in Incheon as well. This is the first COVID-19 confirmed case in Incheon since a 35-year-old Chinese woman who entered the country through Incheon Airport on the 19th of last month and was the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Korea.

On the 22nd, Incheon City announced that a 61-year-old woman, Ms. A, residing in Bupyeong-gu, tested positive for COVID-19 at 9:30 a.m. that day. Ms. A, who lives alone in an officetel, was confirmed to have attended a Shincheonji Church gathering in Daegu from the 14th to the 17th.

Although Ms. A did not have any symptoms indicating COVID-19 infection, she received a recommendation for testing from Daegu City and was tested at the Bupyeong-gu Public Health Center at 2:30 p.m. the previous day, after which she was under self-quarantine.

Immediately after the confirmed diagnosis, Ms. A was transferred to Incheon Medical Center and is receiving isolated treatment in a negative pressure ward.

Incheon City is currently identifying contacts based on Ms. A’s movement routes, means of transportation, and credit card usage history. The city has conducted emergency disinfection at locations confirmed to have been visited by Ms. A and plans to take measures such as disinfection, facility closure, and quarantine through additional investigation of her movements.
