"Energy Efficiency Rating Verification for Clothes Dryers and Air Purifiers Starting March"

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chae-seok] The Korea Energy Agency announced on the 23rd that from next month 1st, clothes dryers will be added as items subject to the energy consumption efficiency rating system, and the scope of air purifiers subject to reporting will be expanded.

According to the Energy Agency, this system is a regulation that labels equipment with high energy consumption with efficiency grades from 1 to 5 based on energy consumption efficiency or energy usage.

From next month 1st, manufacturers and importers of clothes dryers with a rated power consumption of 3000W or less must display the energy consumption efficiency rating on their products.

Manufacturers and importers of air purifiers with a standard usage area of 200㎡ or less must also display the energy consumption efficiency rating on their products.

The Energy Agency explained that this reflects the recent sales growth trend of clothes dryers and large-capacity air purifiers.

With the revision of the system, consumers will be able to check the efficiency grade according to the energy usage of related products and easily distinguish high-efficiency energy-saving products.

Manufacturers and importers of products must measure energy usage through accredited testing institutions according to the 'Efficiency Management Equipment Operation Regulations' and report the measurement results by model to the Energy Agency before product shipment and customs clearance.
