Seodaemun-gu, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital Confirmed Patient's Home and Surrounding Area Disinfection

Notification of Self-Quarantine Measures and Distribution of Hygiene Kits to Two Family Members Living Together

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] It has been confirmed that the home of a man in his 30s who was finally diagnosed with COVID-19 at the screening clinic of Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital at 10 p.m. on the 20th is located in Hongje 1-dong, Seodaemun-gu.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) revealed that this patient worked as a patient transport worker at Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital from the 1st to the 15th of this month. After being diagnosed positive, he was isolated at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, a government-designated isolation hospital bed, via 119 at midnight on the 21st.

Subsequently, at 9 a.m. on the 21st, a retest by the KDCA confirmed the final positive result.

There are two family members living with this patient (father and older brother). Seodaemun-gu notified them of self-isolation measures around 11 a.m. on the 21st and distributed hygiene kits.

Then, around 4 p.m., to minimize community infection, a first round of disinfection was conducted at the confirmed patient's home and surrounding areas, with plans for additional disinfection.

Furthermore, closure of eight nearby daycare centers was recommended.

Investigations confirmed that the patient had no history of visiting Daegu or overseas countries with COVID-19 outbreaks.

Seodaemun-gu stated, “We will promptly and accurately disclose the confirmed patient's movement path as soon as the KDCA's epidemiological investigation results are available,” and added, “Related measures such as disinfection were immediately implemented according to the manual.”
