[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] A case has occurred in China where a patient who had been infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was declared fully recovered and discharged, but later tested positive again.
According to local media on the 21st, a resident of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, who was infected with COVID-19 and received treatment, tested positive again at a hospital on the 19th after being discharged. However, this patient did not leave the house for 10 days after discharge and self-isolated. This was in accordance with the health authorities' directive to quarantine at home for 14 days after discharge.
Local reports indicate that similar cases have occurred in other regions as well. Medical experts have pointed out the need to be cautious in determining discharge, which is expected to undermine the credibility of Chinese authorities' management of recovered patients.
