The 70th Berlin International Film Festival Opens, Featuring Invitations for 'Time to Hunt' and 'Domangchin Yeoja'

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] The 70th Berlin International Film Festival opened on the 20th (local time) in Berlin, Germany. From Korea, the films Time to Hunt and The Woman Who Ran were invited to the non-competition and competition sections, respectively.

Time to Hunt was invited to the Berlinale Special Gala section, a non-competition category. This is the first time a Korean film has been invited to the Special Gala section. This work is the new film by director Yoon Sung-hyun, who received acclaim for Bleak Night, and is a thriller about four friends planning an operation for a new life and the pursuer chasing them. The film stars actors Lee Je-hoon, Ahn Jae-hong, Choi Woo-shik, Park Jung-min, and Park Hae-soo.

Time to Hunt is scheduled to carry out its official events starting with a press conference on the 22nd (local time).

On the afternoon of the 23rd, at the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin, the Korean Film Night will be held, where Lee Je-hoon, Ahn Jae-hong, Park Jung-min, and director Yoon Sung-hyun are expected to attend and meet with film festival and film market officials as well as industry professionals.

The Woman Who Ran, invited to the competition section, is director Hong Sang-soo's 24th feature film, starring Kim Min-hee along with Song Seon-mi, Seo Young-hwa, Kim Sae-byuk, and Kwon Hae-hyo. The Woman Who Ran tells the story of Gam-hee (Kim Min-hee), who meets three old friends while her husband, who has never been away, is on a business trip.

Director Hong has been invited to the Berlin Film Festival four times, including for Night and Day (2008), Nobody's Daughter Haewon (2013), On the Beach at Night Alone (2017), and now The Woman Who Ran.

The film will have its first screening on the 25th at 9 a.m. (local time) at the Berlinale Palast, the festival's main theater.
