Korea's First 'Femi Party' Preparatory Committee Registered: "A Revolution for Human Dignity"

On the 21st, the Femi Party Founding Committee's founding declaration began with the statement, "Women are the first social group to face oppression."

It continued, "For thousands of years, patriarchy has made women see themselves as weak and highlighted differences among women, making resistance and solidarity difficult."

It argued that neoliberal capitalism "is expanding its base by exploiting women's bodies," and that "rulers have forced sacrifices on women by sometimes using hatred and violence, sometimes creating myths that bind motherhood, and sometimes designating women as unfit for the public sphere."

It also pointed out that South Korea's gender wage gap, career interruptions, and hate crimes and violent crimes against women rank "among the highest globally."

The Femi Party Founding Committee stated, "We aim to create Korea's first feminist party, a popular party that views the world through the experiences and perceptions of marginalized people, dreams of an equal society where no one's life is deprioritized, and envisions a sustainable ecology."

It emphasized, "We will change the whole world so that the experiences of women and minorities become central, not peripheral. This is a global demand of our time and an unstoppable revolution for human dignity."
