[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun inspected the COVID-19 quarantine site at Kkum Namu Comprehensive Town (329 Baekbeom-ro) on the 20th.
On that day, Mayor Seong toured all the facilities within the town, including Toy Land and the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, and participated in toy disinfection and facility quarantine work together with district office and center staff.
Kkum Namu Comprehensive Town is operating normally except for the indoor playground for infants and children and some programs. The policy is to consider closing the facilities if the domestic COVID-19 crisis alert is raised to 'Severe' or if confirmed cases occur within the district.
As of the 20th, there are 0 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area, 0 under active monitoring, 2 in self-quarantine, 4 suspected cases, and 15 symptomatic individuals under investigation.
The district is conducting consultations, medical examinations, and epidemiological investigations for suspected patients at the screening clinic (air tent) set up in front of the public health center, and continues to provide telephone consultations through the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (☎2199-8370~6). As of the 20th, the number of medical examinations and telephone consultations reached 199 and 1,445 respectively.
Additionally, the district has conducted quarantine activities 402 times at 407 facilities including the district office building, district-owned facilities, related organizations, lodging businesses, and jjokbangchon (small room villages). Quarantine supplies (masks, hand sanitizers, hand cleansers, etc.) totaling 46,385 have been distributed, focusing on vulnerable groups.
Management of 130 Chinese international students from Sookmyung Women’s University is also being strengthened. Supplies including 250 quarantine masks were provided, and call vans will be operated from the 24th to 28th to transport students between Seoul and Incheon. On the 28th, disinfection work will be carried out on campus.
Additional personnel for the public health center are being secured. By the 28th, seven fixed-term workers including 1 doctor, 3 nurses, and 3 administrative support staff will be newly hired. To focus on COVID-19, the operation of the public health center and its branches has been significantly reduced.
Mayor Seong Jang-hyun said, “The COVID-19 situation is becoming more serious,” and added, “The district will do its best to prevent the virus from spreading within the community.”
