According to the legal community on the 21st, the Suwon District Court recently issued a summary order imposing a fine of 5 million KRW on netizen A, who was prosecuted for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).
The court stated in the summary order, "Although the victim did not pay money to the broadcasting company, rent a one-room apartment instead of the apartment where he lived when appearing on a variety show, or use his father's company funds arbitrarily, the defendant posted articles on a bulletin board accessible to the public where people can freely access and read posts," and "with the intent to defame the victim, publicly disclosed false facts through the information and communications network, damaging the victim's honor."
Earlier, in April of last year, A posted defamatory articles based on false facts on an online community, such as "Choi Jung-hoon's father, who works at a construction company, embezzled company funds to debut his son as a singer," and "while living in an 80-pyeong apartment in Bundang, he urgently rented a one-room apartment near the apartment to film MBC's 'I Live Alone'."
Meanwhile, Jannabi debuted in 2014 with the digital single "Rocket." Since then, songs like "For Hesitant Lovers," "Did We Love? Was It a Passing Relationship? The Not-So-Short Time We Spent Together Keeps Locking My Heart," "SHE," and "My Joy, My Song" gained popularity through word of mouth.
