[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] From now on, internet users will be able to check spatial statistical information such as food, goods, jobs, and transportation centered on their access location.
The Statistics Korea announced that the 'My Tonggye-ro (Road)' content will be available through the Statistical Geographic Information Service (SGIS) starting from the 21st.
My Tonggye-ro is a service designed to make SGIS easier to use. It supports not only users from government agencies and academic research institutions but also general users to utilize statistics for more rational decision-making in daily life.
It recommends 1,147 spatial statistical information items provided through SGIS content such as statistical theme maps, interactive statistical maps, and utilization services, reclassified by life cycle and areas of interest. The life cycle is classified into seven categories: ▲infants and children ▲adolescents ▲adults ▲elderly ▲pregnant, childbirth, and childcare women ▲single-person households. The areas of interest are divided into eight fields: ▲food ▲goods ▲jobs ▲transportation ▲learning ▲sightseeing and entertainment ▲health ▲safety.
For example, if someone is preparing to open a cafe, by selecting adolescents and adults in the life cycle and food and jobs in the areas of interest, they can check items such as 'Adolescent Population Status,' 'Adult Population Status,' 'Cafe Business Status,' and 'Cafe Industry Business Density Status' on the statistical information catalog screen.
Along with the launch of the My Tonggye-ro service, Statistics Korea added 'e-Local Indicators' to the 'Interactive Statistical Map' to allow viewing of regional statistics to enhance user convenience. They also plan to provide an advanced SGIS by improving the 'Statistical Map Experience' and other features.
