Yoon Cheol-ho Reappointed as President of the Korea Publishing Culture Association

[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Yoon Cheol-ho, the current president of the Korea Publishing Culture Association (KPC), has succeeded in his re-election.


The KPC held its 73rd regular general meeting at 2 p.m. on the 20th at Yonsei University Alumni Hall and elected Yoon Cheol-ho as the 50th president for a three-year term. The KPC stated that Yoon Cheol-ho was the sole candidate for the 50th presidency and was re-elected with overwhelming support from over 200 member companies participating in the election.


The KPC began accepting candidacies for president, auditor, and screening committee members from December 26 last year and closed registration on January 28. The election was held at the general meeting on the 20th.


In his candidate statement, President Yoon said, "I will represent the upright voice of publishers, foster the publishing industry, correct publishing policies that are going in the wrong direction, and strive to expand the overall pie of the publishing sector." He emphasized that "the voice of publishers must align with the sound development of our society, and publishers must unite their strength."


President Yoon pledged to promote the establishment of the Korea Publishing Center. He explained that it would be a "symbol where publishing and reading-related organizations come together to gather strength and wisdom for the development of publishing and reading culture."


After the vote, Yoon Cheol-ho expressed his gratitude, saying, "For Korea to become a culturally strong nation, publishing must play its role," and urged, "Let us build a society that understands the importance of reading and creating books together."


Yoon Cheol-ho is the CEO of Social Critique Co., Ltd., has served as vice president and president of the Korea Publishers Association, and has been serving as the 49th president of the Korea Publishing Culture Association since February 2017.


Additionally, Han Bong-suk, CEO of Pureun Sasangsa, Song Young-seok, CEO of Haenam Publishing, and Kim Tae-heon, CEO of Hanbit Media, were elected without opposition as screening committee members, and Ahn Sang-jun, CEO of Pakyoungsa, was elected auditor without opposition.
