Shinhan Bank Hosts Group Exhibition of Disabled Artists 'Island of Senses'

[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Shinhan Bank announced on the 21st that it will hold a group exhibition titled "Island of Senses" featuring artists Lee Seongeun, Lee Wooju, and Hwang Seongwon, supporting the creative work of artists with disabilities, at Shinhan Gallery located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from the 24th to April 27.

Shinhan Bank and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture signed a cultural and artistic support agreement in 2018 and have been holding annual exhibitions for resident artists of the Jamsil Creative Studio. The Jamsil Creative Studio of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture provides creative spaces for artists with disabilities and has supported and nurtured over 130 promising artists with disabilities to date.

Artist Lee Seongeun, participating in this exhibition, presents about 10 works that transfer intuitive emotions felt in daily life onto canvas with vivid colors. Artist Lee Wooju showcases works that express feelings and thoughts about a utopian world using Oriental painting techniques. Artist Hwang Seongwon will exhibit photographic works capturing light and movement as depicted through a camera lens.

A representative of Shinhan Gallery said, "The participation of skilled artists continues in the annual exhibitions for artists with disabilities, raising the level of the artworks," adding, "If many people come to see the works and share the exhibition news through social networking services (SNS), it will be a great encouragement to artists with disabilities."

Meanwhile, Shinhan Bank has consolidated the Gwanghwamun Shinhan Gallery into the Yeoksam location. The concept is to expand opportunities for the public to easily access and enjoy art, planning exhibitions in a way that creates new social value.
