[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Namjae, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for the National Assembly election in Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, issued a press release on the 20th, stating, “The people will never forgive the United Future Party’s behavior of uttering anti-democratic impeachment,” and added, “Through this general election, we must correct the bad habits of the state power abuse forces that pushed for the impeachment of President Roh Moo-hyun 16 years ago.”
The preliminary candidate pointed out, “On this day, Shim Jae-cheol, floor leader of the United Future Party, said, ‘If we become the first party or the majority party in the general election, we will push for impeachment,’” and criticized, “The United Future Party is nothing more than the forces impeached for state power abuse returning to the Saenuri Party under the plausible pretext of ‘unification.’”
He continued, “We must not tolerate the forces that pushed for impeachment 16 years ago without the consent of the people attempting once again to divide the nation and undermine democracy,” and emphasized, “The shallow trick to divide public opinion and win favor from supporters in order to overcome the situation where public support for judging the opposition party is higher than for judging the regime in the general election cannot deceive the people.”
He concluded, “The people will think that through this general election, the bad habits of the state power abuse forces reunited as the United Future Party must be corrected.”
