[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The presidential special envoy delegation, led by Im Jong-seok, Special Diplomatic Advisor for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), met with Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Council, on the 19th and extensively discussed cooperation measures between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 20th.


Special Envoy Im and Chairman Khaldoon agreed on strengthening the special strategic partnership between Korea and the UAE in the year marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations. They also highly appreciated the upcoming fuel loading of the first unit of the Barakah nuclear power plant scheduled for next month, and discussed ways to enhance strategic cooperation in various practical fields such as future energy and defense cooperation.


Additionally, on the afternoon of the 19th, the special envoy delegation paid a courtesy call on Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of the UAE. A Foreign Ministry official stated, "Crown Prince Mohammed emphasized the importance of the special strategic partnership between Korea and the UAE and asked our special envoy delegation to convey his warm regards to President Moon Jae-in." Crown Prince Mohammed had visited Korea in February last year.


The special envoy delegation's visit took place from the 18th to the 20th.
