[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Public Procurement Service (PPS) is launching a new innovative procurement platform called ‘Innovation Marketplace.’ The Innovation Marketplace will operate as a one-stop service portal that comprehensively supports the government’s innovative procurement, differentiating itself from the existing public procurement system ‘Nara Marketplace.’
On the 20th, the PPS announced that it will open the ‘Innovation Marketplace’ on the 24th to operate a public procurement system where innovative products not yet commercialized in the market can be traded in an integrated manner.
The platform aims to connect the innovative demands of public institutions with innovative products from companies and to assist the initial market entry of innovative products.
The main functions of the Innovation Marketplace are summarized into four categories: ▲a dedicated mall for innovative products ▲an innovation demand and supply community ▲integrated operation of demand surveys for public research and development (R&D) by ministries ▲and support for informatization of innovative procurement systems such as competitive dialogue methods.
Especially, in this inaugural year, efforts will be made to further enhance the Innovation Marketplace by adding functions such as demand discovery support, online evaluation features, and evaluator recommendation functions.
Kang Shin-myeon, Director of the Purchasing Business Bureau at the PPS, said, “Last year, the PPS established a dedicated department for innovative procurement, laying the groundwork through pilot purchases of innovative prototypes and the construction of the Innovation Marketplace. This year, by opening a single window called the ‘Innovation Marketplace,’ we aim to create visible results in innovation-oriented public procurement through government-wide collaboration.”
