Emart confirmed that the 40th confirmed case visited Seongsu Branch for about an hour around 12:30 PM on the 10th. Accordingly, an announcement was made at 2:10 PM on the same day to suspend operations at Seongsu Branch, and the store closed at 2:45 PM.
The Emart headquarters next to Seongsu Branch will continue to operate as usual.
An Emart official stated, "It was confirmed that the 40th confirmed case was wearing a mask at the time of the visit," and added, "Seongsu Branch had already undergone full disinfection on the 12th and 19th regardless of the confirmed case's visit."
Previously, Emart had temporarily closed its Gunsan, Bucheon, and Mapo Gongdeok branches after confirmed COVID-19 cases visited. Although sales vary by store size, weekday sales per store are known to be around 300 million KRW.
The reopening date for Emart Seongsu Branch has not been determined.
