Engis Technology Forms Partnership with Finnish Software Company Qt

Through this partnership, the two companies plan to expand the development of various solutions such as in-vehicle navigation, E-Horizon (map-based autonomous driving assistance solution), and in-vehicle OTA (Over-The-Air Software update) based on the Qt platform. They also plan to promote these solutions to global automobile manufacturers through joint marketing.

Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Qt has developed the software platform ‘Qt,’ which allows for fast and easy creation of graphical user interfaces, and it is used in more than 70 diverse industries including automotive, home appliances, defense, and industrial automation device application software.

Qt has provided total solutions for developing graphic UIs in various embedded industries over the past 24 years. According to the company, it is recognized for having top-level quality and competitiveness in the vehicle software platform field through cooperation with numerous global automakers.

Ngis Technology’s in-vehicle OTA (Over The Air, wireless network-based software and firmware update technology) solution enables ultra-fast updates of various software based on the vehicle’s wireless communication environment. It is an optimal solution for ultra-fast downloading of large multimedia content such as videos to the in-vehicle infotainment system.

By utilizing Ngis Technology’s OTA technology, the content on cluster and IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) system screens can be freely changed. It is possible to apply various new designs to the cluster, moving away from the typical form where circular gauges are arranged like traditional analog clusters. Furthermore, drivers can freely configure the cluster themselves, providing a broader and more unique experience than before, according to the company.

Qt has been adopted as a solution for developing in-vehicle infotainment and digital clusters by numerous global automotive OEMs over the past decade. Many global automotive OEMs maintain strategic relationships as Qt’s customers.
