'COVID-19 Suspected' Yonsei University Medical School Student Tests Negative

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A fourth-year medical student from Yonsei University College of Medicine, who was undergoing practical training at Gangnam Severance Hospital in Seoul, was classified as a suspected case of COVID-19 due to a sore throat but tested negative.

According to Yonsei Medical Center on the 20th, the day before, Mr. A, a fourth-year medical student at Yonsei University, felt a sore throat at his home and visited the screening clinic at Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, near his residence to get tested for COVID-19.

Two specimens collected from Mr. A during the first test were respectively determined as "negative" and "unknown." Accordingly, the hospital conducted a second test to accurately determine the infection status, and Mr. A was confirmed negative that morning.

Earlier, the hospital notified the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency about Mr. A's case and informed the students undergoing training not to come to the hospital on the 20th and to wait at home.
