NongHyup Bank Provides 10 Million Won Support to Vulnerable Elderly for COVID-19 Prevention

[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] NH Nonghyup Bank donated 10 million KRW on the 20th to the Center for Comprehensive Support for Elderly Living Alone in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, to support vulnerable elderly people in preventing COVID-19.

The Center for Comprehensive Support for Elderly Living Alone is an institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare established to provide comprehensive services for the rapidly increasing number of elderly living alone in Korea due to accelerated aging and nuclear families. The donated funds will be used for the vulnerable elderly support project organized by the center to prevent the novel coronavirus, including purchasing masks, hand sanitizers, and daily necessities such as Korean agricultural products.

At the donation ceremony, Heo Oknam, Head of Customer Happiness Center at Nonghyup Bank, said, "We donated funds to help elderly people vulnerable to diseases," adding, "Nonghyup Bank will continue to fulfill its social responsibility to ensure no neighbors are left behind."

Meanwhile, since 2008, Nonghyup Bank's Customer Happiness Center counselors have been operating a 'Companion Service' for 13 years, calling about 1,300 elderly living alone every week to check on their well-being and any inconveniences. The program is continuously expanding its target audience and improving its system.
