[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Yoseop] A ‘Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Industry Development Expert Working Group’ that seeks various business plans and proposes ideas to foster the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry will be launched.


Ulsan City announced that it will hold the first meeting of the ‘Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Industry Development Expert Working Group’ at 10:30 a.m. on the 20th in the large conference room on the 3rd floor of Ulsan Technopark.


The meeting will proceed with presentations on Ulsan City’s nuclear power plant decommissioning industry development strategy, agenda presentations by institutions, discussions, and suggestions.


The ‘Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Industry Development Expert Working Group’ consists of 25 experts in six fields: R&D development, workforce training, industrial support, certification testing, dismantling and cutting, waste, and environmental restoration.


The main roles include ▲ discovering and planning joint national government-funded projects related to the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry ▲ establishing a vision for the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry and discovering short- and long-term joint tasks (projects) ▲ proposing policies for fostering the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry and serving as promotional ambassadors.


Shim Min-ryeong, Director of the Energy Industry Division of Ulsan City, said, “We will operate the expert working group substantively to revitalize the nuclear power plant decommissioning industry ecosystem by developing technology, discovering business models, training high-level personnel, and fostering small but strong enterprises, and we will strive to help create jobs.”
