[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Text messages exchanged between actor Ha Jung-woo, who is suspected of illegal propofol use, and the plastic surgery clinic director at the time have been revealed.
On the 19th, Channel A reported the text message records between Ha Jung-woo and the plastic surgery clinic director, provided by a close associate of Ha Jung-woo.
The messages include content from January when Ha Jung-woo told the clinic director, "I was introduced by an acquaintance," and coordinated the reservation date and time.
About two weeks later, the clinic director sent Ha Jung-woo a message saying, "The main issue going forward is the scar, so you must come to the hospital three times within 10 days after the procedure." Ha Jung-woo replied, "The scar is the biggest challenge."
Later, the clinic director asked about his condition, saying, "How is your face? It’s the time when parts are starting to peel, so you need to be careful." Ha Jung-woo reportedly responded, "There is a reddish tint."
A close associate of Ha Jung-woo explained, "The propofol injections were part of the skin treatment process. There was no illegal use," and added, "The facial scars were deep, and the procedure was unbearably painful without sedation."
It was also reported that Ha Jung-woo told his younger brother, who is alleged to have used his name illegally, "Why would I use your name? That is completely untrue."
Earlier, amid allegations of habitual propofol use by Ha Jung-woo, his agency, Workshop Company, denied the allegations in an official statement on the 18th.
The agency explained, "Ha Jung-woo had long been concerned about facial scars and was introduced in January 2019 to a clinic director famous for laser scar treatment. The director expressed a strong willingness to help treat Ha Jung-woo’s skin scars."
Regarding the suspicion that he received treatment under a false name, the agency stated, "From the first visit, the director emphasized privacy, asking him to wear a mask and hat. During this process, the director requested information such as the names of Ha Jung-woo’s younger brother, who is the agency representative, and his manager. We thought this was simply for privacy protection."
