Contribution to Health Promotion of Low-Income Students and Development of the Dairy Industry
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City, Gyeongnam (Mayor Heo Seong-mu) announced on the 20th that it will spend 1.2 billion KRW this year to provide free school milk to 14,000 low-income elementary, middle, and high school students in the area.
This project supports recipients of basic livelihood security, near-poverty class, single-parent families, and special education students among elementary, middle, high schools, and special schools in the area. It plans to supply white milk or fortified milk, produced from 100% domestic raw milk, free of charge to students for 250 days annually.
In particular, in Changwon City, to ensure that students who previously avoided free school milk due to feeling 'embarrassed' can drink milk comfortably without worry, the milk will also be delivered to the homes of students who wish to receive it.
Kim Seon-min, Director of the Livestock Division, said, "This project will greatly contribute to improving the health of growing students and the stable development of the dairy industry."
