[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus has developed a high-capacity IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) in collaboration with Intel and WINS.
IPS is a security device that detects and blocks external attacks such as worms and virus attacks. This development was carried out with the purpose of protecting the 5G network from hacking attacks amid the rapid increase in traffic usage due to the growing use of 5G services.
Through the development of a 100G-class high-capacity IPS, LG Uplus can now handle five times more traffic than existing equipment. This not only improves the efficiency of IPS operation and management but also reduces the space occupied by IPS equipment within the central office. Power consumption is also reduced by about 70%. By utilizing machine learning techniques such as correlation analysis through traffic auto-learning and behavior analysis through data mining, it can respond to potential threats as well.
The development of this 100G-class high-capacity IPS was carried out through active cooperation among LG Uplus, Intel?the global No.1 company in server CPUs?and WINS, a domestic information security specialized SME. Park Song-cheol, head of LG Uplus NW Technology Operations Group, stated, “We will enhance quality stability in rapidly changing network environments through continuous collaboration with domestic small and medium manufacturers and global vendors.” Kim Dae-yeon, CEO of WINS, said, “Based on WINS’ security technology, LG Uplus’ telecommunications, and Intel’s competitiveness in server CPUs, we expect to create synergy in the 5G market.”
