Armor Sports Prepares to Open Official Store in Korea with Lotte Department Store

Lotte Department Store Operates Pop-up Store with Amer Sports

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Lotte Department Store will operate an experiential leisure pop-up store featuring the sports brand Armor Sports at its main branch for 13 days from the 28th to March 11th.

This pop-up store, themed "From Nature to Everyday Life," showcases sports leisure products such as tennis rackets, shoes, and smartwatches. Brands under Armor Sports, including Wilson, Suunto, and Salomon, are participating.

Lotte Department Store is holding the Armor Sports event because domestic consumers' interest in health has recently increased, leading to a growing demand for sports-related products. According to the 2019 National Sports Participation Survey by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the rate of participation in national sports activities (the percentage of people regularly engaging in physical activities at least once a week over the past year) rose from 54.8% in 2014 to 66.6% in 2019.

Although Armor Sports holds well-known brands domestically, it has only supplied products to multi-brand sports shops and has not directly communicated with customers through official stores. Armor Sports is preparing to open an official store in Korea in partnership with Lotte Department Store.

Wilson offers special limited-edition products and provides a 10% discount on-site purchases of "custom rackets" that allow customers to create rackets reflecting their personal preferences. The "Ultra 100 V3.0 Racket" is sold for 239,000 KRW.

To honor basketball coach John Wooden, a special edition product was released in collaboration between Bata and Wilson in limited quantities. The "Wilson X Bata John Wooden Basketball Shoes" and "Wilson X Bata John Wooden Classic Low Tops" are priced at 200,000 KRW and 150,000 KRW, respectively.

Limited quantities of Suunto products, known for their sports smartwatches, are also prepared.
