Jungnang-gu, No Shortage of COVID-19 Masks and Hand Sanitizers!

Jungnang-gu Secures and Smoothly Distributes Masks and Hand Sanitizers Amid COVID-19 Shortages... Prioritizes Urgent Supply to Gunsan City, Sparking Warm Reactions

Jungnang-gu, No Shortage of COVID-19 Masks and Hand Sanitizers!

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Despite the shortage of masks and hand sanitizers caused by COVID-19, Jungnang-gu’s support for quarantine supplies remains unwavering.

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryoo Kyung-gi) announced that it is securing and providing quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers and masks.

The district has been supplying quarantine supplies not only to multi-use facilities with frequent resident traffic such as traditional markets, public institutions, cinemas, and libraries, but also to kindergartens, schools, and local children’s centers used by children who are relatively vulnerable to the virus, as well as senior centers and welfare centers frequently visited by the elderly. Support has also been extended to facilities mainly used by vulnerable groups such as homeless self-support facilities, Jungnang Yurin self-support facilities, and free meal centers.

In particular, reflecting the district’s characteristics where village bus companies (2 locations) and taxi companies, which account for a high proportion of Seoul’s entire taxi companies, are widely used for commuting, a total of 5,708 quarantine supplies were provided to 21 taxi companies and individual taxis, receiving great response from residents.

Along with this, a thorough quarantine activity is being carried out through public-private cooperation. For 41 events where many people gather, cancellations or schedule adjustments have been made, and 111 locations including Kiwoom Centers have been temporarily closed, doing their best to protect residents’ safety from COVID-19.

Considering dual-income couples and others, no closure orders have been issued yet for all daycare centers and kindergartens in the area, but decisions on closures will be made after monitoring the progress of COVID-19.

Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We thank all residents who are paying attention and participating to prevent COVID-19 by following preventive measures such as wearing masks and stopping the spread of the virus,” and added, “We will continue to secure quarantine supplies and strengthen the virus quarantine system to protect the safety of residents.”

Jungnang-gu previously made headlines for warmly supporting the urgent supply of masks to Gunsan City to prevent the nationwide spread of COVID-19.
