Gwangju Dongnam-gap Preliminary Candidate Seo Jeong-seong Cut Off... Reconsideration Request Submitted
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] As the Democratic Party of Korea announced the third round of primary election districts on the 19th, some areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam are showing signs of opposition.
According to local political circles on the day, the Democratic Party announced the preliminary candidate screening results for 13 out of 18 constituencies in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region.
Among them, Representative Lee Gae-ho of the Damyang-Hampyeong-Yeonggwang-Jangseong district was nominated unopposed.
Following the announcement of this result, preliminary candidate Kim Seon-woo, who had registered and prepared for the primary in the region, reportedly expressed opposition and is expected to file a request for reconsideration.
In addition, Kim's camp is known to have reported to the local election commission that a county council member posted a message on a widely participated SNS group suggesting manipulation of age groups to increase Representative Lee Gae-ho's approval ratings ahead of the opinion poll.
Meanwhile, in the Gwangju Metropolitan City Dongnam (Gap) district, with preliminary candidate Seo Jeong-seong cut off, the primary election between candidates Choi Young-ho and Yoon Young-duk was decided.
Seo is reportedly planning to submit a request for reconsideration to the central party.
Seo has shown a steady upward trend in opinion polls and is said to be asking the central party to reconsider, citing the gap in poll results with some candidates.
