Preliminary Candidate Shin Jeong-hoon Proposes "Introducing Public Electric Bicycles in Innovation City"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, a preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea in Naju·Hwasun, Jeonnam, announced on the 19th that he will collaborate with public institutions in the Innovation City to develop IoT-based public electric bicycles as a complementary transportation means to public transit and as a tourism resource.

On the 18th, while touring the community on an electric bicycle in Bitgaram-dong, preliminary candidate Shin emphasized, “It is necessary to cooperate with energy-related public enterprises and ICT-related public institutions to establish a new complementary public transportation system, improve residential conditions, and create an image befitting a global hub for the new energy industry and an Innovation City.”

To this end, he envisions implementing a transportation system where eco-friendly public electric bicycles can be freely rented and returned, allowing immediate and unrestricted movement between regions.

Based on driving information and local content, the plan includes encouraging experiences with virtual reality and augmented reality programs, while contributing to the revitalization of local tourism through content linked to popular restaurants, scenic spots, and story tourism.

To support this, preliminary candidate Shin plans to secure an IoT-based public electric bicycle operation system through cooperation with Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Communications Agency, and others.

Shin Jeong-hoon pledged, “After piloting the operation in Innovation City and the riverside city of Nampyeong, where public transportation is inconvenient, we will expand it to the entire area of Naju City and deploy various types of electric bicycles along the riverside roads to utilize them as a means to revitalize tourism in Naju.”
