[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kim Jin-pyo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who has been appointed as the election committee chairman for Gyeonggi Province, pledged victory in the general election, stating that "the success of the general election depends on the election results in Gyeonggi Province." Kim emphasized policy cooperation among candidates in Gyeonggi Province.
On the afternoon of the 19th, Kim posted on his Facebook, saying, "Since Gyeonggi Province has as many as 60 seats, it is no exaggeration to say that the success of the general election depends on the election results in Gyeonggi Province," and added, "I will bear this heavy responsibility."
Kim said, "I think it will not be easy for our Democratic Party to maintain the current number of seats within Gyeonggi Province in this general election," and emphasized, "I believe Democratic candidates must listen to the voices of the residents and cooperate with each other to further strengthen policy cooperation for the development of Gyeonggi Province." He also stated, "Through the general election victory, I will take the lead to make the 21st National Assembly a 'working parliament.'"
Earlier, the Democratic Party announced the election management committee chairpersons by region. Kim was assigned to Gyeonggi Province, Lee Gae-ho to Honam, Park Byeong-seok to Chungcheong, Song Young-gil to Incheon, and Lee Kwang-jae to Gangwon. Former Presidential Secretary Im Jong-seok, who was expected to take the Honam election committee chair, was not included in the list. The Democratic Party plans to officially launch the election committee on the 20th and hold the first meeting attended by the regional election committee chairpersons.
