In a post on her Facebook that day, Lee said, "Are you risking the lives of our medical staff just to show off to China? Moreover, how will you prevent the possibility of secondary infections and further spread after they return home?" She added, "Recommending a leave of absence cannot be a fundamental solution."
She said, "Even in this situation, why is there no ban on entry and exit to China? What if our students get infected by Chinese international students rushing in at the start of the new semester?" and added, "I am sorry to say this, but a firm and principled response is necessary in such matters."
She continued, "A compassionate and indecisive leader in a national crisis drives the people into a deadly situation," and said, "The country exists for times like this, and we pay taxes so that it can respond properly and save its people. The U.S. is banning entry, so why aren't we? Unfortunately, our own citizens come first."
Lee added, "All kinds of humanitarian rhetoric aside, we have to survive first. We cannot tolerate irresponsible and privileged behavior where those in power protect themselves while recklessly taking measures that threaten the health of the people, especially when they cannot even protect their own citizens."
