Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, Recruiting Participants for 'Maker Culture Expansion Project'

Support of 1.8 Billion KRW for 237 Projects in 4 Areas Including Clubs and Creative Projects

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Park Young-sun) and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (President Kim Kwang-hyun, hereinafter referred to as Kised) announced on the 19th that they will publicize the promotion plan for the 'Maker Culture Expansion Project' and recruit support candidates until the 23rd of next month.


The Maker Culture Expansion Project aims to discover and support various maker activities that directly implement creative ideas to expand public interest and participation in the maker movement. This year, 237 tasks in 4 fields will be selected, with a total support budget of 1.8 billion KRW.


Based on creativity, 30 maker creation projects in innovative leading technology fields that will lead the 4th industrial revolution will be selected, with up to 10 million KRW supported per project. Additionally, 90 maker autonomous creation projects applicable to various fields will be discovered, with up to 5 million KRW supported per project. Furthermore, 100 maker clubs for elementary, middle, and high school students will be discovered and provided with 3.5 million KRW in activity funds per club, and to expand public participation in maker activities, 12 diverse local maker culture events will be discovered and supported.


The visiting maker education program, which directly visits underserved areas to support maker education and experiential activities, plans to introduce various educational methods combining online and offline formats to enhance the effectiveness of education and broaden the range of beneficiaries. Individuals, corporations, and organizations interested in maker activities are all eligible to apply.


A Kised official stated, "Based on 128 maker spaces nationwide, we plan to discover and support various local maker activities to spread maker culture throughout society, while continuously expanding the maker base through the cultivation of specialized maker personnel."
