[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Party for Democracy and Peace criticized the floor leader's representative speech by Shim Jae-cheol of the United Future Party on the 19th, calling it "a speech that confirmed the United Future Party as a party of past division" and said, "They have not deviated even an inch from being a party of impeachment."

Park Joo-hyun, the chief spokesperson of the Party for Democracy and Peace, stated in a commentary on the same day, "Although they criticize various policies of the Moon Jae-in administration, they do not present a single solution that gives hope and expectation to the people," adding, "It was a speech full of greed to gain reflexive benefits through political strife and opposition, to seize power institutions and the national budget again like in the past, to suppress opposition forces, and to blatantly side with the wealthy to establish a support base."

He pointed out, "Although the Moon Jae-in administration has many faults, the United Future Party does not even have the right to criticize," and added, "Because the United Future Party is the main source of deep-rooted evils and the culprit of income polarization, asset polarization, and regional polarization."

He continued, "During the 20th National Assembly, the United Future Party's record includes offensive remarks about the Sewol ferry disaster and the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, blocking electoral law reform, creating satellite proportional representation parties, promoting division among the people through hunger strikes, head-shaving protests, and opposition for the sake of opposition, neglecting livelihood issues, and leading parliamentary dysfunction, showing the height of old-fashioned politics," and added, "Yet there is not a single word of reflection."

Chief Spokesperson Park said, "No matter what the United Future Party says, unless they voluntarily dissolve the satellite proportional representation parties that blatantly misuse the electoral law, sincerely reflect on their deep-rooted past evils, and present measures to resolve the polarization they themselves have created, the United Future Party is not a future unification party but merely a party of past division."
