[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon will serve as the sponsor chairman for Kim Yong-min, the Democratic Party's preliminary candidate for Namyangju Byeong. Candidate Kim previously served as a member of the Prosecutorial Reform Committee during former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's tenure.

On the 19th, Lee's campaign stated about candidate Kim, "He has worked as a lawyer for 15 years, striving for the rights of the wronged and justice. In particular, he played a key role in the 2013 'Yoo Woo-sung Spy Fabrication Case.'

Candidate Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day and said, "My connection to former Minister Cho is limited to receiving one appointment letter from the Prosecutorial Reform Committee. My political assets are entirely unrelated to former Minister Cho; they stem from my activities as a Minbyun lawyer and various social participations. The claim of a targeted nomination is completely unfounded and seems intended to misdirect the election."

Former Prime Minister Lee will also serve as the sponsor chairman for Kang Joon-seok, the preliminary candidate for Busan Nam-gu Gap, who is a former Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries. The campaign said, "He is a seasoned bureaucrat with over 30 years of public service experience and has served as Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries. With his experience and wisdom, he will contribute to the development of Busan, the maritime capital."
