Role in Responding to Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Ulsan City announced on the 19th that it will form and operate a 'Quarantine Expert Advisory Group' to respond to new and re-emerging infectious diseases such as the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 19th at 3:30 PM, Ulsan City will hold the 'Ulsan City Quarantine Expert Advisory Group Meeting' in the mayor's reception room, attended by Ulsan Mayor Song Cheol-ho, professors, and about 10 others.
The meeting will proceed with the presentation of appointment certificates to the advisory group members, a report on the COVID-19 response status, consultations, and discussions.
The advisory group is composed of 8 members including specialists, led by Byeon Tae-seop, president of the Ulsan Medical Association. The group will predict and analyze the possibility of infectious disease inflow and spread occurring domestically and internationally, and provide advice on epidemiological investigations, risk analysis, and quarantine measures based on basic clinical and medical opinions of pathogens.
Ulsan City will establish and implement effective quarantine measures through the advisory group's consultations.
Mayor Song Cheol-ho said, "We will work together with the private expert advisory group to overcome the infectious disease crisis situation well and strive to alleviate citizens' anxiety."
