KOSPI Turns Downward... Breaks Below 2200 Level

[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] On the 19th, the KOSPI, which opened higher at the 2220 level, turned to a downward trend.

As of 10:10 a.m. that day, the KOSPI recorded 2197.03, down 11.85 points (0.54%) from the previous session.

The KOSPI opened at 2222.51, up 13.63 points (0.62%) from the previous trading day, and seemed to continue its strong trend, but began to decline around 9:58 a.m.

In the securities market, individuals net bought stocks worth 72.6 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold stocks worth 32.2 billion KRW and 57.4 billion KRW, respectively.

By industry, steel and metals (0.21%) and paper and wood (2.89%) rose, while chemicals (1.1%) and non-metallic minerals (1.69%) fell.

Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, only LG Household & Health Care (1.51%) rose. Samsung Electronics (0.5%), SK Hynix (0.98%), Samsung Biologics (1.95%), LG Chem (2.99%), and Celltrion (2.17%) all declined.

At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 676.16, down 6.76 points (0.99%) from the previous session.

The KOSDAQ opened at 686.89, up 3.97 points (0.58%) from the previous trading day, but fluctuated before entering a downward trend.

In the KOSDAQ market, individuals net bought stocks worth 28.2 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold stocks worth 7.2 billion KRW and 21 billion KRW, respectively.

Among industries, textiles and apparel (3.39%) and pharmaceuticals (0.36%) rose, while construction (1.26%), distribution (2.01%), and finance (1.97%) fell.

In the KOSDAQ market, among the top market capitalization stocks, Pearl Abyss (0.45%) and Hugel (2.12%) rose, while Celltrion Healthcare (2.46%), HLB (3.07%), and Medytox (2%) declined.
