[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in China has surpassed 2,000.
On the 19th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) reported that 136 new COVID-19 deaths occurred nationwide the previous day, bringing the total death toll to 2,004. The number of new confirmed cases increased by 1,749 in one day, raising the cumulative confirmed cases to 74,185.
The number of confirmed cases in China has shown a declining trend. After the inclusion of clinically diagnosed patients as confirmed cases, the new confirmed cases reported on the 12th reached 15,152, surpassing the 2,000 mark, but now the numbers have stabilized in the high 1,000s.
However, the additional deaths have increased significantly compared to the 98 deaths reported on the 17th.
Most of the deaths occurred in Hubei Province, where COVID-19 first emerged. In Hubei Province, 132 new deaths and 1,693 new confirmed cases were reported the previous day. In particular, 116 people lost their lives in Wuhan, known as the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The total number of patients currently receiving treatment is 57,805, of whom 11,977 are in severe condition. The number of patients discharged after recovery is 14,376.
