According to Kyungpook National University Hospital on the 19th, the hospital abruptly closed its emergency room from 11:15 PM on the previous day (18th).
Patients who were in the emergency room were isolated in single rooms within the hospital.
A hospital official explained, "Among the patients admitted to the hospital's negative pressure rooms, one tested positive for COVID-19, and under the hospital director's orders, the emergency room was closed. The number of positive cases will be announced by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
Health authorities announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daegu and Gyeongbuk is 10.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Daegu City are scheduled to make an official announcement regarding additional confirmed cases and other updates at a briefing at 10 AM on the 19th.
One 37-year-old Korean woman, who is isolated and receiving treatment at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital in Daegu, also tested positive in the first test. It is known that the confirmation of her diagnosis will be determined through a second test later that day.
Health authorities are tracking the connections between the patients who tested positive today and the 31st confirmed patient diagnosed the previous day.
