According to CJ China headquarters and the Chinese Embassy in Korea on the 19th, Park Geuntae, CEO of CJ Logistics and head of CJ China headquarters, met with Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Korea, at the Chinese Embassy in Korea on the 17th to pray for the resolution of the COVID-19 crisis and held a ceremony to deliver 180,000 CJ Hetbahn cup rice meals. This support, worth 6 million yuan (approximately 1 billion KRW), will be delivered to the frontlines of medical care in Hubei Province, China, to help supplement the nutrition of medical staff.
At the event, CEO Park stated, "CJ will stand with the Chinese people from beginning to end as the Chinese government fights against COVID-19," and added, "Let us cooperate to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."
Ambassador Xing repeatedly expressed gratitude for the interest and support shown by Korean companies, including CJ, to the Chinese people and said that full efforts are being made to resolve COVID-19. Ambassador Xing emphasized, "Under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, all Chinese people are united with the belief and confidence that we can overcome the virus," and added, "We will forever remember the precious support and help sent by our Korean friends." He further stated, "This crisis will make the Chinese economy healthier, and the China-Korea relationship will also develop further."
Among domestic conglomerates, Hyundai Motor Group was the first to deliver medical supplies and aid worth a total of 15 million yuan (approximately 2.53 billion KRW) on the 28th of last month to help the rapid recovery of residents in the areas most affected by COVID-19. Following this, Samsung Group provided support worth a total of 30 million yuan, including 1 million antibacterial masks and 10,000 protective suits.
