[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is publicly recruiting for the ‘2020 Apartment Complex Community Revitalization Contest’ to foster a residential community culture that communicates and coexists with neighbors and to spread community awareness.

The ‘Apartment Complex Community Revitalization Contest’ is a community activity contest where residents within apartment complexes can propose communication and harmony community programs they can participate in together, and the district selects and supports these programs after review.

The district has been steadily promoting this since 2011 to create a residential community culture where warmth flows between neighbors in apartment complexes, activate communication among residents, and establish a ‘culture of creating residential communities where people want to live for a lifetime.’

Project areas include ▲making eco-friendly products ▲hosting resident festivals ▲hobby classes ▲joint childcare meetings ▲health and exercise programs ▲social service, and any program planned by residents themselves to revitalize the community can be proposed.

Also, starting this year, as an extension of the apartment complex community revitalization project, a platform will be prepared to share and activate exchanges of contest projects implemented by each complex.

The district will select supported projects through the ‘Subsidy Review Committee’ at the end of March, considering project sustainability, resident participation, and self-funding ratio, providing support from 1 million KRW up to a maximum of 8 million KRW.

The contest application targets a total of 119 apartment complexes and 48,142 households located in Gwanak-gu, and the application period is from February 20 to March 6.

Interested complexes can download the form from the Gwanak-gu Office website’s notice section and submit it jointly signed by the resident representative meeting, community revitalization group, and management entity to the Gwanak-gu Housing Division (☎879-6332).

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “The first step to solving problems in apartment complexes and other communal housing is to communicate and think together with neighbors,” adding, “I hope various projects will be discovered through the residents’ brilliant ideas.”
