"Between the Democratic Party and the progressive camp, switching between other parties"
"Must quickly recruit from Ahn Cheol-soo Party or the '1+1 Hwang Kyo-ahn Party'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, criticized a column titled "Everyone Except the Democratic Party" contributed by Professor Im Mi-ri of Korea University to Kyunghyang Shinmun on the 18th as a "basically low-quality column written according to one's own feelings."
On the same day, Chairman Yoo pointed out on the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's official YouTube broadcast "Yoo Si-min's Alileo" live stream, "Professor Im's column is of low quality. It has almost no argument and is merely impressionistic criticism."
Regarding the content of Professor Im's column, he said, "The column mentioned wealth disparity and labor issues, but I see it as a 'progressive cosplay column.' It is one of the effective methods used when wanting to attack the current government. It is the same logic as starting with 'I voted for Moon Jae-in, but...'"
About Professor Im's background, he said, "She has been moving back and forth among parties other than the Democratic Party and the progressive camp," adding, "She should be quickly recruited by the Ahn Cheol-soo Party or the '1+1 Hwang Kyo-ahn Party' (United Future Party and Future Korea Party)."
Regarding Kyunghyang Shinmun, which published Professor Im's column, he criticized, "There was no consideration at all to maintain minimal balance and fairness. It seems gatekeeping is not functioning," and added, "There should be internal reflection on this issue."
Chairman Yoo also criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which filed a complaint with the prosecution against Professor Im. He said, "They filed a complaint over something disputable," and called it "a useless and foolish act." However, he said the withdrawal of the complaint was "a good decision."
Regarding the criticism surrounding the Democratic Party, he said, "It is not right to label them as habitual disorderly or violent actors just because they jaywalked once. Historically, the Democratic Party has been a party that has strived to guarantee and protect freedom of expression."
Earlier, Professor Im contributed a column titled "Everyone Except the Democratic Party" to Kyunghyang Shinmun on the 29th of last month. The Democratic Party filed a complaint on the 5th, claiming the column constituted pre-election campaigning and urging voting participation, thus violating election laws. Facing strong public criticism, the Democratic Party withdrew the complaint on the 14th.
