Seoul City Councilor Kim In-ho Confirms 18.2 Billion KRW Budget for School Facilities in Dongdaemun-gu

Improvement of School Facilities and Educational Environment 14.4 Billion KRW, School Meal Environment Improvement 3.4 Billion KRW, New School Construction 200 Million KRW, Total 182 Billion KRW for 154 Projects

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Kim In-ho, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee (Democratic Party, Dongdaemun 3), announced that the facility budget for schools at all levels in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, for 2020 has been confirmed at 18.2 billion KRW.

Kim In-ho, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party, Dongdaemun 3), stated, "I explained the necessity of improving the educational environment in Dongdaemun-gu and worked to secure the budget for improving the learning environment for children in Dongdaemun-gu. In particular, the school meal environment improvement budget increased by 425% compared to the 2019 main budget (800 million KRW), and a budget of 800 million KRW was allocated for safety management (asbestos removal), which was not reflected in 2019."

According to Councilor Kim In-ho, 14.4 billion KRW will be supported for school facility education environment improvements such as heating and cooling improvements, electrical facility improvements, restroom improvements, and safety management (asbestos removal). Additionally, 3.4 billion KRW will be allocated for school meal environment improvements, including new construction and expansion of cafeterias and student dining halls, as well as replacement of outdated cooking equipment. In total, 18.2 billion KRW will be supported across 154 projects.

Councilor Kim In-ho pledged, "I will do my best to create an educational environment where our children can study hard." Furthermore, he plans to continuously monitor to ensure that the budget allocated to schools is executed without any issues.
