[Asia Economy Reporters Kayoung Kim and Intern Yeonju Kim] Messages expressing gratitude for the efforts of the crew members responsible for passenger safety aboard the cruise ship 'Diamond Princess,' which is docked at Yokohama Port under quarantine by the Japanese government, continue to pour in.
On the 17th (local time), according to CNN and the weekly news magazine Time, despite the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Diamond Princess crew members have been caring for passengers by wearing masks and gloves and delivering meals three times a day.
Approximately 1,000 crew members are on board the cruise ship, including five Korean crew members.
Passengers who are well aware of this situation have expressed their gratitude and left supportive messages for the hardworking crew members.
Currently, searching the hashtag '#hangintherediamondprincess' on Instagram reveals posts containing messages from passengers under quarantine.
Passengers have handwritten notes saying, "You are our heroes," "We recognize the effort you have made for us," "You are amazing," and "Thank you for taking good care of us."
According to Time, there are also thank-you notes written in more than ten languages besides English on the cruise ship. It appears passengers sought out various languages to express their gratitude, knowing the crew members come from diverse nationalities.
Meanwhile, the government deployed the presidential aircraft, Air Force One No. 3 (VCN-235), on the 18th to transport five individuals?including four Korean nationals wishing to return home and one Japanese spouse?out of the 14 Koreans quarantined on the Diamond Princess back to South Korea.
