[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education (Superintendent Park Jong-hoon) announced on the 18th that it operated a flower market in the office parking lot to promote the consumption of flowers.

The flower market was held to help flower farmers and small business owners who are struggling due to the sharp decline in flower consumption caused by the reduction or cancellation of various events such as graduation and entrance ceremonies amid the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Furthermore, to promote flower consumption, schools and institutions at all levels plan to gift flowers to graduates or new students, and improve environments such as classrooms, entrances, and doorways by using seasonal flowers like spring flowers according to circumstances. In addition, activities to promote flower consumption will continue, such as the head of the institution giving flowers to employees on their birthdays or anniversaries.

Superintendent Park Jong-hoon stated, “I hope this event provides some comfort and strength to those involved in the flower industry who are facing difficulties,” and added, “We will continue to strive to ensure education that works together with the local community.”
