[Asia Economy (Asan) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The office of the Governor of Chungnam Province has been relocated back to the provincial government office from the temporary space at Chosa 2-tong Village Hall in Asan City after 19 days. This move follows the departure of Chinese evacuees from Wuhan, who had been staying at the temporary living facility at the Asan Police Human Resources Development Institute on the 15th and 16th, and the return of on-site support personnel to their regular duties the day before.

According to the province on the 18th, after the Police Human Resources Development Institute was designated as the temporary living facility for Wuhan evacuees on the 29th of last month, Chungnam Governor Yang Seung-jo, who met with residents of Chosa 2-tong, expressed his commitment to "stand with the residents" and established the on-site office at the village hall the following day (the 30th).

Since the establishment of the on-site office, Governor Yang and provincial officials have conducted 39 meetings and briefings, 323 visits and receptions, and 47 status reports between the on-site office and the on-site countermeasure headquarters until the 17th of this month. A total of 409 sessions were held, with 7,428 people visiting the provincial government site.

Governor Yang and provincial officials held meetings before and after lunch and dinner times and dined at nearby restaurants, which the province explained helped to some extent in revitalizing the local economy.

Notably, on the 9th, during the operation of the on-site office, President Moon Jae-in visited the temporary living facility and Governor Yang’s on-site office, spending time encouraging residents through a briefing session.

Subsequently, on the 11th, Minister Park Young-sun of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and on the 15th and 16th, Minister Jin Young of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety visited Asan, holding meetings with residents of Chosa 2-tong and expressing gratitude for their efforts.

Governor Yang said, “The residents of Asan must have experienced a congested and hectic situation while the on-site office, countermeasure headquarters, and accommodations were located in the area,” and added, “I express my gratitude to the residents of Chosa 2-tong and the citizens of Asan who have endured these hardships.”

He further stated, “The province will focus on thoroughly preventing the influx of COVID-19 into the local community while paying closer attention to the areas we need to care for and support.”
