[Public Notice+] Daechang Solution, Operating Profit Turned Positive Last Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Daechang Solution announced on the 17th through a public disclosure that it achieved a turnaround to a profit by recording an operating profit of 1 billion KRW on a consolidated basis last year. Sales amounted to approximately 65.2 billion KRW, a 26.2% increase compared to the previous year.

Daechang Solution cited the increase in supply of a new product, nuclear waste storage containers, as the main factor for last year's performance growth. Daechang Solution produced the world's first cast steel nuclear waste container and supplied it to related companies. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), there are a total of 164 permanently shut down nuclear power plants worldwide, of which only 19 have completed dismantling. Daechang Solution stated, "The remaining 164 plants are preparing for dismantling, and the global nuclear power plant dismantling market is expected to reach about 1,200 trillion KRW, so the company's nuclear waste container business will grow further."

With the application of environmental regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), expectations for Daechang Solution's large engine structural materials business are also rising. The company independently produces MBS, which supports the impact on ship engine shafts, securing about 40% of the global market share. The company expects MBS orders to increase further this year as the domestic shipbuilding industry consistently maintains LNG ship orders at the 90% level.

A Daechang Solution representative said, "With large projects such as LNG ships scheduled, including the nuclear waste container business recognized for its technology and business feasibility, the company's growth rate is expected to increase further this year," adding, "In particular, containers made by the cast steel method have higher price competitiveness compared to other containers, which will lead to an expansion of the company's operating profit."
