Active Administration Including Utilization of Big Data Analysis for Export and Import Customs Clearance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan Regional Customs Office has selected and awarded Customs Administration Officer Jo Jeongmi as the ‘Busan Customs Officer of February’ this year.
According to the Busan Regional Customs Office on the 18th, Officer Jo departed from the simple method of sending notification letters and actively carried out administrative work by selecting 100 small and medium export companies vulnerable to refund tasks using export-import customs clearance big data analysis, providing one-on-one telephone consultations and customized consulting, enabling 20 companies to receive refunds totaling 310 million KRW.
Additionally, they detected companies that received improper refunds for raw materials not used in exported goods and recovered 240 million KRW.
The Busan Regional Customs Office also awarded employees who achieved outstanding results in each work field on the same day.
Customs Administration Officer Jeong Taehwa, selected as a meritorious person in the ‘General Field,’ developed an ‘Intelligent Work Allocation Program’ that computerized tasks previously done manually, contributing to manpower reduction and improved work efficiency.
Customs Administration Officer Lee Ji-eun, in the ‘Customs Clearance Field,’ operated the New Port Risk Management Task Force (TF) team, compiled important case studies accumulated from key tasks, published a collection of export-import customs clearance detection cases, and shared it with customs offices nationwide for use as on-site training materials.
In the ‘Investigation Field,’ Customs Administration Officer Park Seonghyun uncovered a financial fraud group that deliberately defaulted on import letters of credit, diverted 740 million KRW paid by domestic banks to China, and laundered 360 million KRW back into the country.
In the ‘Surveillance Field,’ Customs Administration Officer Jeong Jongyoung conducted education for port area workers to block drug smuggling and made efforts to prevent drug smuggling by developing detection techniques specialized for ports, selecting suspicious vessels, and detecting marijuana powder (2 cases, approximately 510g).
In the ‘Corporate Support Field,’ Customs Administration Officer Jo Youngjun contributed to signing a cargo attraction contract worth 25 billion KRW by providing customized consulting through active interpretation of laws related to international logistics contracts (export automobile tires) for companies located in the Busan Port Free Trade Zone.
