Ulsan City Implements 'Sanha Public Institutions Youth Intern Recruitment Project'

Recruitment of 60 People by 9 Organizations, Targeting Unemployed Youth Aged 15 to 34

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Ulsan City announced on the 18th that it will implement the ‘2020 Youth Intern Recruitment Project at Affiliated Public Institutions’ to strengthen employment capabilities through internship experiences at public institutions for young unemployed individuals facing difficulties in finding jobs.


The eligibility criteria require applicants to be unemployed youth aged between 15 and 34 who are registered residents of Ulsan City as of the announcement date. A total of 60 people will be recruited across 9 public institutions.


The Youth Intern Recruitment Project has been promoted since 2017 under the ‘Ulsan City Youth Basic Ordinance’ to develop youth capabilities and strengthen their self-reliance.


This project focuses on actively creating youth jobs mainly in the public sector to secure sustainable employment and making internship experience a key factor in employment capabilities and skill development.


The participating institutions are ▲Ulsan Facilities Corporation ▲Ulsan Development Institute ▲Ulsan Urban Corporation ▲Ulsan Economic Promotion Agency ▲Ulsan Credit Guarantee Foundation ▲Ulsan Technopark ▲Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency ▲Ulsan Women and Family Development Institute ▲Ulsan Cultural Foundation, totaling 9 organizations.


The timing and methods of recruitment will be autonomously conducted by each institution considering job roles and budget conditions.


The total project cost is 630 million KRW, of which 234 million KRW is funded by the city and 395 million KRW by the public institutions.


Since 2017, Ulsan City has provided job experience opportunities for unemployed youth by recruiting 53 people at 8 institutions in 2017, 39 people in 2018, and 61 people at 9 institutions in 2019.


Choi Pyunghwan, Policy Planning Officer of Ulsan City, said, “Through the youth intern project at affiliated public institutions, we will strive to enhance understanding of the local community and employment capabilities,” adding, “We will create a happy Ulsan where young people want to live by generating youth jobs.”
