[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Shim Jae-cheol, floor leader of the United Future Party, referred to President Moon Jae-in's supporters as 'Moonppa' and warned that their behavior would ignite calls for regime judgment.

Shim, the floor leader, stated at the floor leader meeting on the 17th, "The pro-Moon loyalists are indiscriminately digging into personal information."

He said, "When President Moon stopped by a side dish store in Chungnam and the merchant honestly said, 'The economy is terrible,' Moonppa swarmed like hornets, hurling all kinds of personal attacks and insults. It is outrageous that the president's supporters are insulting the merchant despite the fact that people are struggling to make a living due to the president's flawed policies. This arrogance of the Democratic Party and the loss of reason among Moonppa will only fuel calls for regime judgment," he criticized.

Regarding the Democratic Party's filing and subsequent withdrawal of charges against Professor Lim Mi-ri of Korea University, he pointed out, "Representative Lee Hae-chan, who filed the charges, has not apologized to Professor Lim, and although former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon apologized on his behalf, he is not yet a member of the Democratic Party. The lack of apology to Professor Lim is due to the Moonppa's loss of reason," he said.

Shim referred to COVID-19 as 'Wuhan pneumonia' and said, "The number of confirmed Wuhan pneumonia cases has increased to 30. In particular, the 29th and 30th confirmed cases have unknown infection routes, raising concerns about community transmission. Since the second wave of community infection is frightening and we are now at a critical point, measures to restrict entry of visitors from China should be expanded, and the scope of testing should also be broadened," he said.

He added, "When President Moon recently spoke about ending the novel coronavirus, it was as if the 29th and 30th patients appeared to mock his words. The infection routes are still unknown, yet the president keeps boasting about good quarantine measures. The reason the public has been anxious is because the initial quarantine and prevention measures were not thorough, but they keep blaming others," he criticized.
