Government to Recruit 5,512 New Public Officials for Fine Dust Response and Disease Quarantine

[Asia Economy Reporter Osangdo] The government will recruit 5,512 national public officials in the field of living safety services such as disease or plant and animal quarantine and fine dust response. The personnel to be recruited this time are part of the 11,359 new personnel for central government agencies reflected in this year's budget after parliamentary review last year.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the revision ordinance of the organizational regulations of 25 ministries containing this content was approved at the Cabinet meeting on the 18th. Among the recruited personnel, 1,323 are general ministry and agency employees, and 4,189 are national and public school teachers.

Excluding teachers, the personnel by field are 34 for disease quarantine, 14 for plant and animal quarantine, 51 for fine dust response, and 33 for protection of overseas Koreans. In addition, 199 personnel will be recruited in public convenience fields such as 5 for metropolitan express railway construction in the Seoul metropolitan area and 6 for the Military Service Career Support Center, and 56 personnel in economic fields such as 24 for the Fisheries Science Institute research vessels.

National and public school teachers include 904 kindergarten teachers, 1,398 special education teachers, and 1,264 extracurricular teachers.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to assign 98.7% of the new personnel to frontline local administrative agencies. The government plans to recruit 3,733 public officials from 23 ministries next month, including 3,083 police and coast guard officers.
